ORGANIC PRODUCTION
Introduction
The Sundays Organic Growers Association (SOGA )
is a cooperative of farms which support organic citrus growing and social
sustainability. The primary objective of the Association is to 'promote the
integrity of organically produced products grown and processed by its members'.
Since 2005 SRCC has made a dedicated organic line available for packing fruit
for SOGA members at its Summerville Packhouse. The full infrastructure and
logistical resources of SRCC allows for the efficient distribution of fruit
across the world.
Keeping it natural
SOGA recognises that for the past two generations unsustainable farming
practices such as the overuse of chemical fertilisers has led to impoverishment
of the soil. The use of compost and other organic soil amendments are the basis
of the Associations approach to natural fertility management.
SRCC is committed to ecologically sustainable growing practices and in
partnership with SOGA is promoting the use of organic compost by all its
growers, including those involved in conventional citrus production.
Certifying Standards
All SOGA members, and the SRCC organic packing line are certified to EC
834/2007 standard by Ecocert. All have Eurepgap and Natures Choice
accreditation. SRCC packhouses have BRC certification.
